The Sunshine Coast of BC is a stretch of BC coastline that is approximately 139 km long, which is about 87 miles. It is said that once you reach "Lund BC" you are at the end of the longest highway in the world. The Pan-American Highway is a total distance of a whopping 15,020 km or 9,312 miles!
It stretches all the way from Castro on Chile's south coast to Lund just north of Powell River in British Columbia Canada. To reach the area is a short ferry ride from West Vancouver BC, 45 minutes in length and you would think of the area as an island, but in fact it is part of the mainland, it just lacks road access due to the steep mountainous terrain on the southern portion of the coast.
The Sunshine Coast is a truly magnificent stretch of highway, funky little towns and villages are sure to please as you wind your way through some of the most beautiful west coast scenery to be found anywhere. Majestic mountains, old growth forests and pristine beaches will delight visitors to the area. Endurance/Offshore – In these races, competitors race over long distances.
Freestyle – This competition can be fun to watch with competitors riding for two minutes showing off their complicated and creative tricks and skills.
Slalom – On this race course, each competitor makes zig-zag left and right turns around markers.
Indoor and Special Events – These are other available events with specialized rules.
Safety is of the utmost concern and if you want to make sure you are prepared, you might want to pay for some extra instruction through jet ski schools that can teach you a wide range of skills form the basic techniques to freestyle tips.

It is also very relative. Your perception of what small means, may be totally different than reality. But, let's attempt to perform an objective analysis.
When you buy a small sail boat and pull it into your driveway, you'll quickly notice that it's very small. Don't have visions that you have bought a yacht, or a keelboat, or a cutter. It could be as small as an 11-foot mono hull. A small sail boat, on the other hand, could be a racer or it could be a day-sailer.
Small sail boats do not have cabins but they could have some form of partial shelter. This is important to consider when you do your purchase analysis. As is the consideration of whether they have a portable toilet. But, they're certainly not going to have the amenities of the large sail boats.
The small sail boat is a good first boat to learn how to sail. If you make an error, it lets you know immediately. You can then learn from your mistakes, as you go. You'll become exposed to many important water experiences that you would miss if you started with a large sail boat
One of these experiences is capsizing. Capsizing is certainly not fun. It teaches you about one of the dangers of sailing. It teaches you how to right a boat. It teaches you how to develop and practice a recovery plan.
Sailing clubs teach children, many times, as early as age six, to become proficient on the small sail boats. As they become knowledgeable, they progress on up to larger sail boats. There are many advantages for young boys and girls, as well as adults, to start on the smaller size sail boats. One of these advantages is price.
This is not to say a day-sailor cannot be a family boat. You can take a small sail boat across the bay or along the shore line for that picnic, fishing trip or little jaunt. But, it is not recommended you get too far from shore.
Of course, where the small sail boat shines is in the racing world. Without getting into the specific special high speed designs, just note that these are built for speed, and not for comfort.
Remember, a small sail boat can truly be a beautiful and pleasurable thing for everyone in your family. It can draw you together as a family unit. And, what could be more important!

Now we have gone in another extreme: sun all of a sudden has become an enemy and we all need protection, otherwise we get skin cancer. People are spending billions on buying sun blockers. Let us see, what is the evidence that sun causes skin cancer. As usual, there are some statistics to support it: Southern states have more cases than Northern, white people more often have skin cancer than blacks. On the other hand, skin cancer often appears on the parts of body, which are never exposed to sun. Less than 10,000 people die from skin cancer in US each year. To place this in proper perspective, people in United States are 10 times more likely to be killed in a hospital due to a medical error or twice as likely to be shot to death by a gun. People are now spending billions on the so-called sun-blockers, trying to save themselves from something, which does not threaten them at all: out of 300 sun-baders, 299 never get skin cancer. If the sun was really responsible for skin cancer, should not the number be much greater? Last, but not least: if sun were the cause of skin cancer, introduction of sun-blockers would have significantly reduced the cases of skin cancer. It did not.

Will my dog be able to swim? Not necessarily. Contrary to popular belief, there are certain types of dogs who will find it difficult, if not impossible to swim. There are some breeds with a combination of large weighty body’s and little legs that find it very difficult. Also, some dogs seem to have developed a fear of water that may preclude them from enjoying a holiday swim at the beach. Remember that even dogs that are good beach swimmers, do get worn-out and need to rest periodically. If taking a puppy to the beach, make sure that you introduce him to the water slowly and carefully so that you can teach your dog to enjoy your holidays at the beach.
Is the Water OK for my dog to drink? At ocean beaches, it is not good for your dog to drink the water. Illness would result from your dog drinking the salty sea water. It is important to bring provisions of fresh water for both you and your dog to drink. Rinsing your dog with fresh water after swimming and playing in the sand is a good idea too, it can avoid skin complaints and harm to your dog’s coat.
Can my dog get sun burnt? It is possible for dogs to get sun burnt. Dogs with short or white fur and also those with pink looking skin are the most likely to suffer from sun burn. To ensure a pain free holiday for both you and your dog, it is a good idea to take similar precautions with your dog as you would with your own skin. Applying sunblock to areas with little or no hair such as their ears is a good idea. Limiting exposure to the sun is also a good preventive measure.
Is it OK to let my dog off his leash and roam freely on the Beach? There certainly are specific “dog beaches”, where it is perfectly ok to let your dogs run free on the beach. However most beaches require that you keep your dogs on their leads at all times. This is common sense really; it makes for a safer environment for both the people and the dogs holidaying on the beach.
Strategies for making sure that both you and your dog enjoy your summer beach holiday in comfort and safety include: • Watch out for heat stroke symptoms in your dog, such as fast panting, drooling and unsteadiness on their feet. • Be aware of the heat of the sand, hot sand could be quite painful for your dog’s feet too!• Always supervise your dog while on the beach.• Be aware of your surroundings, particularly with regards to things lying around on the beach such as fish hooks or dead fish or sea life which could be toxic to your pet.
